Sketchin' Surfin'

Excited for the long weekend. Friends said the waves will work in La Union. For the meantime that I'm bored I'll be scratching some pencils on papers.

Skin Art a'la Surfer

The long wait is over. I got me my wish, my skin as a canvass. It was such a long waiting period that I thought "When will the tattoo artist get here for Pete's sake! The waiting process had become excitement-frustration, anger-excitement, excitement-scare, anxiety-panic and finally excitement to ouch, pain. The only thing I was scared of is me not being satisfied on the end of the session that made my really anxious. I didn't care about the pain, I wanted for it to get it done nicely and perfectly. Of course I want it to be perfect it will be with me at the very end of my days!!!

The steps and experience for me to get the tattoo...

1. Picking the perfect one, the concept and the love at first sight on selecting the art.(two days)
2. Evaluating, feeling the art and collaborating with friends. (lasted for a week or two)
3. Looking for a very superb tattoo artist.(minutes)
4. Waiting for the artist to come to life este...come. He came all the way from Singapore.(a month)
5. Waiting for another tattoo artist to come because the 1st one didn't reply for how many days...(a week)
6. The other artist arrived but with no tools so wait again (a week)
7. Finally contacted the first choice of artist. He was highly recommended.
8. Text, called and threatened the artist until he goes nuts and finally agreed to come.
9. Confirming the arrival. Now! Wait I needed to take a long bath first! Panic button switched on!
10. Here goes nothing! Sitting on the chair with a sketch on my butt-ocks and hearing the sound of the machine...ouch ouch tingling sensation like being electrocuted million times...Inhale exhale! hoohhh!
And ...VOILA!

What do you think?

Imma Get Me A Tattoo

I've been longing to get a tattoo. I wanted to get one back when I was a bit younger but then the "profession" along with the other reasons got in the way. I was thinking that If I get one now am I a bit old for this? My aunt who was round ten years older that me had one a couple of years ago, an additional admiration to her because of her uncommon personality which I loved about her. So I guess you can never  be too old for a tattoo.
I wanted a design which will symbolize what I am or what I want. Recently my love for the beach inspired me to get a tropical or beach inspired tattoo. Right now I'm searching and thinking about a distinctive design. After searching and searching today I saw this designs and it attracted me. I guess I kind of fell in-love with this wave design. I thinking of having this on my lower back.

Another design that caught my attention is from a U.S. based art student. Her I.D. name is Chelsea. From her profile she had a fascination with waves being a surfer and a lifeguard as well. Here are some of her designs:

Cherry Blossom
I'm thinking of this just below the rib cage
Swirl
This one is also cool maybe on my nape?
A bit simple but I can add something else in the middle.

Oh my Zamba!

Map locator of Zambales... now I know

The first surf trip and spot I went was in Zambales, around the month of April. It would probably take you 3-4 hours to get to there in San Narciso, Zambales if you are to take off from Manila and that is if you have a private ride which we had that time. If you plan of commuting, it will probably take you 6 hours or more depending on the time of take off, traffic and couple of stops.

That time I did not know what to expect. I didn't even know where in the map of the Philippines is Zambales. All I know is that its near Olongapo City. I have no sense of directions. What matters to me when I travel is I got money, cellphone, and the guts to ask for directions. This time I'm only a passenger so there I'm cool with it.

I know that when you surf you got to have a good balance.  So, I kind of imagined my self trying to balance on the aisle of a full pack provincial bus without holding on to something. That I could do well. On our way my friends were talking about their experiences on surfing which I had a bit of a hard time relating to that time. I said to my self I wish I had done my research before hand so I decided to sleep on the rest of the trip.
